Points Redemption Information
A long awaited "points redemption" solution was officially launched last year where cardholder's can now redeem their American Express points and actually purchase travel products and services through DBT, rather than joining endless queues and battling for limited "FF seats" on partner airlines!
The new and innovative concept has been received well by cardholders however and as always, has raised questions about how the program operates.
QUALIFYERS: ONLY American Express-issued cards, enrolled with Membership Rewards Ascent or Choices are eligible to access Membership Rewards. Co-branded cards are not accepted and cannot be used for Membership Rewards *points conversions.

*POINTS CONVERSION: Simply, your American Express Membership Rewards Ascent or Choices points are converted into cash (at the current conversion rate of 10,000 points = $AU100 - as at 24th September 2008)
WHO CAN USE THIS PRODUCTS/SERVICE? Any one appointed by the Cardholder (in-chief, where supplement cards are issued)
WHAT CAN MEMBERSHIP REWARDS PURCHASE? Any travel product whatsoever. Flights, car hire, accommodation, holiday packages, cruises, dining & theatre packages, park entry fees, Qantas Frequent Flyer memberships, travel insurance, travel taxes and even agency booking fees! What's more is, transactions are carried out under normal booking conditions as if you were a fare-paying customer meaning no black-outs, you fly the choice of your own airline and travel where you want. Membership Rewards can not be converted to cash.
RESTRICTIONS: None, except those applied by an airline or other travel principals in conjunction with normal booking parameters, (conditions) commensurate with any disclosure clauses.
NB: Travel products and services are subject to availability at the time of reservation.
HOW DO I BOOK USING MEMBERSHIP REWARDS? Like any purchase in the travel industry, the key is to book early to be sure the product/service is available. And of course, to look for an early-bird or discounted fare.
DBT will look for Best Fare of The Day (BFOD) and apply it to your rewards purchase just as if you were having to pay for it yourself. We'll source the best fare and give options of alternatives where we see a saving or even something that'll be more logistically viable for you. You make the choice of where your points dollars go!
