In 1993, DBT joined the consortium, buying group United Travel Agent's Group (UTAG) as share holding franchisee which has since been re-branded as Travelscene. Why the change in name?

Purely market positioning. We felt there wasn't enough identity in the word UTAG, although been around since day dot; Travelscene as a name explained much clearly what our businesses were all about.

Travelscene Corporate has been developed within the group as a nearly separate entity headed up by own Director representing our agencies to the board, ensuring that our interests, moreover yours, are best met in a competitive Corporate Traveler's environment with travel related Principals.

In a nut shell, we explore a purchasing power based on an group of agencies of over 400 members as opposed to remaining isolated, however quite and completely independent with the DBT identity.

Late 2003, Travelscene merged with American Express to create Australia's largest travel group. Travelscene American Express (TSAX). Now over 600 members Australia-wide and over 1700 true agency members overseas, you can rest assured we have Customer Comfort where ever you go.

Other affiliations: before choosing or changing TMC's, be sure their credentials are up to scratch. It's for your protection & peace of mind.

TCF - Travel Compensation Fund (Compulsory) Ensures financial viability of a travel (Agent) provider.

IATA - International Air Travel Association. Agency accredited to issue Air Travel tickets from within licenced premises, in accordance to rules set out by IATA.

AFTA - Australian Federation of Travel Agents - Financial member since 1988. Federation assisting passengers in queries and complaints about travel or related products offered for sale, or dissatisfaction having purchased them.
